Usain Bolt has been appointed as Jamaica’s Global Tourism Ambassador

Jamaica’s esteemed sprint icon, Usain Bolt, has officially been appointed as Jamaica’s Global Tourism Ambassador. This distinguished role will enable the world’s fastest man to represent Jamaica’s culture and tourism on the international stage. In his capacity as Global Tourism Ambassador, Bolt will actively promote Jamaica’s tourism and highlight the nation’s rich cultural heritage to global audiences through a comprehensive digital campaign and various appearances.

This announcement was made during a cocktail reception held to commemorate the Jamaica Tourist Board’s (JTB) 70th anniversary on Thursday at Devon House.

Director of Tourism Donovan White announced this development to an engaged audience, describing the decision as a “pivotal step” in the Jamaica Tourist Board’s evolution into a contemporary, content-oriented, digital marketing entity.

“Whatever we do, if we cannot integrate, then we cannot do. And so, as we traverse that space, one of the critical components of integrated digital marketing is content—loads of it, truckloads of it,” White said. “And so, I would like to invite on stage with myself and Minister Bartlett, the Honorable Usain Bolt.”

“Usain Bolt has been Jamaica’s unofficial ambassador for years through his extraordinary athletic achievements and magnetic personality,” Minister Bartlett said. “This appointment formalizes what the world already knows – that Usain embodies the spirit, resilience, and excellence that defines Jamaica. His influence extends far beyond the track, and we’re excited to channel that power toward building our nation’s future.”

Bolt, the world record holder in both the 100m and 200m, expressed immense pride in the new role he has taken on, reaffirming his deep-rooted passion for Jamaica and all that it represents. “I’ve always loved representing Jamaica, whether on the track or through my various ventures around the world, showcasing the incredible talent and spirit of my nation. This opportunity allows me not only to give back to the country that made me who I am but also to inspire the next generation of athletes who dream of achieving greatness. I believe in the power of sports to unite us and uplift our community, and I am committed to using my platform to highlight the beauty and resilience of Jamaica in every possible way,” he said, emphasizing the importance of giving back.

“You should aways support your country. One of my biggest things is to always try to uplift Jamaica. At the end of the day, this is where we live. One of my biggest things is to promote Jamaica so that we can help to diminish poverty and to uplift the country. I always try to uplift Jamaica because this is a country that has helped to make me who I am, so it is always a pleasure doing good for Jamaica”, Bolt said.

According to Bolt, it is of paramount importance that Jamaica is recognized as a formidable force on the global stage.

“I look forward to making an impact as always, to put Jamaica to the world and to represent the country as best as possible and I will continue pushing to make Jamaica number one. As I said, I always try to keep the flag flying high and to make Jamaica proud. Thanks for the support as always”
