MILTON KEYNES, England — Dancehall icon Vybz Kartel appears set to become a father once again after seemingly confirming that his fiancée, Sidem Öztürk, is pregnant during his headline performance at Reggae Land UK on Sunday.
Performing before more than 65,000 fans at the Milton Keynes National Bowl, the World Boss had the crowd buzzing when he told them to “read between the lines” before launching into his 2010 hit Come Breed Me. Moments later, Kartel walked over to Öztürk and affectionately placed his hand on her stomach, sending fans into a frenzy as many interpreted the gesture as a pregnancy announcement.
Neither Kartel nor Öztürk offered further details from the stage, but the moment has since ignited widespread celebration across social media, with supporters congratulating the couple on what would be their first child together.
If confirmed, the baby would become Kartel’s eighth child.
The dancehall superstar is already the father of seven children from previous relationships. His best-known former partner, Tanesha “Shorty” Johnson, shares three sons with him—Jaheim (Likkle Vybz), Akheel (Likkle Addi), and Aiko (World Boss Jr.)—all of whom have followed in their father’s musical footsteps. Kartel also has daughter Amani with Amanda, two sons with Sophia, and another child with Sherika, who has largely remained out of the public spotlight.
Kartel and Öztürk’s relationship has become one of the most talked-about romances in dancehall. Although he first proposed to her during a prison visit in 2022, the entertainer officially got down on one knee with a diamond ring on November 5, 2024, just months after his release from prison, making their engagement official in person.
Now, nearly two years later, the couple appear ready to begin another chapter together.
While they have not yet announced a wedding date, Sunday’s on-stage moment has many fans believing that wedding bells may soon be accompanied by the cries of a newborn.
