Legendary singer and Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne has passed away at the age of 76. His family announced he died this morning, surrounded by loved ones, urging privacy during this painful time.

Ozzy rose to fame in the late 1960s and early 1970s with Black Sabbath, redefining rock music with hits like Paranoid, Iron Man, and War Pigs. Renowned for his haunting vocals and rebellious stage presence (including biting a bat on stage), his moody persona earned him the iconic moniker “Prince of Darkness”.

In July, he reunited with the original Black Sabbath lineup—Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—for a monumental final charity concert titled Back to the Beginning. Held on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, he performed seated on a throne due to Parkinson’s disease, raising £140 million for charities supporting Parkinson’s research, children’s hospitals, and hospice care.

His health struggles included a Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2003, linked to mobility issues that prevented touring after 2023. Despite these challenges, he remained determined to give one last performance to “honour the place where I was born”.

Ozzy’s career spanned decades beyond Sabbath—he sold over 100 million albums across solo and band projects, launching a solo career with Blizzard of Ozz (1980), co-founding Ozzfest, and winning the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice (Black Sabbath in 2006, solo in 2024).

Beyond music, Ozzy and his family gained international fame through the reality TV show The Osbournes (2002–2005), showcasing his off‑beat humor and tight-knit family life.

Tributes are already pouring in from across the globe. Fans, musicians, and public figures are honouring his impact on culture and music, celebrating him as one of rock’s most unforgettable icons.
