JPS Boosts Restoration Efforts with Arrival of 120 Overseas Line Workers After Hurricane Melissa
Jamaica Live News Desk– | Dec 27, 2025
In the ongoing recovery from Hurricane Melissa, the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) has strengthened its restoration push with the arrival of an additional 120 experienced line workers to the island this week. The team, deployed through Holland Power Services, has joined hundreds of local and international linemen already on the ground as Jamaica works to rebuild critical electricity infrastructure damaged by the storm.

Hurricane Melissa left widespread destruction across the island, with power lines, poles, and substations severely affected—particularly in rural and hard-to-reach communities. In response, JPS says it is ramping up resources at full scale, focusing efforts on the hardest-hit areas where residents and businesses remain without electricity.
According to the utility company, the mission is clear: restore power as safely and as quickly as possible. Crews are working extended hours under challenging conditions, combining Jamaica’s local expertise with global support to accelerate the recovery process. JPS emphasized that every available resource is being deployed to bring relief to affected communities and reconnect homes, hospitals, schools, and businesses.

“The arrival of these additional line workers represents a critical boost to our restoration effort,” JPS noted, adding that the collaboration highlights international solidarity with Jamaica during times of national hardship. As the country continues to recover from Hurricane Melissa, the utility’s message remains one of resilience and determination—bringing the light back to homes and helping Jamaica move forward together. 🇯🇲🛠️
