JCF On High Alert In Downtown Kingston After Gangster Ordered People To Leave

The Jamaica Constabulary Force and the Jamaica Defence Force are on high alert in downtown Kingston after the killing of the reputed ex-lieutenant of former West Kingston Don, Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke.

The ongoing turf war came about since Christopher “Dudus” Coke was extradited to the United States and was sentenced on  June 8, 2012 to twenty three years in prison. He is now held at the Federal Correctional Institution, Fort Dix in Fort Dix, New Jersey with a release date of 25 January 2030.

Many argued that Dudus kept the place in order and kept rival gangs in control. Since the vacuum left after Coke’s departure gangs are warring for his position and control of territories.

The latest flare up came about after the killing of 51-year-old Harry McLeod otherwise called ‘Harry Dog over the weekend. Mcleod is said to be the ex-lieutenant of Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke.Jamaica Live has reported that the Manager at the Jamaica Urban Transit Company, JUTC, Cecil Thoms, has confirmed the state-owned bus company is sending additional buses to Downtown Kingston. According to the report, Mr. Thoms, said the company took the decision in light of reports that businesses and shoppers have been told by gangsters to leave the area of downtown Kingston yesterday evening February 1.

On January 31, Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson and several senior members of the Constabulary visited several communities in Kingston. They stated that detectives continue to question several suspects in relation to recent incidents in the area.

According to reports, the police will be implementing a quick response/quick reaction team to address the current violence in the area.

Police Commissioner, Major General Antony Anderson said the team, which will be rolled out in the coming weeks and will first respond to gang activities in Kingston.

“They (members of the team) will be trained in the tactical use and are being trained in the tactical use of motorcycles and their weapons to respond quickly to gang activities and other threats to the lower part of Kingston,” Anderson said. Source: Loop News
