Diddy vs Dudus Coke: Alleged prison fight as Jamaican drug lord’s release date pushed back to 2029

Jamaica Live News Desk– | Oct 14, 2026

Christopher “Dudus” Coke, Jamaica’s former Tivoli Gardens strongman, has reportedly had his projected release date from a United States federal prison pushed back by one year, amid allegations that he was involved in a physical confrontation with American music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.

According to reports citing the United States Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), Coke’s projected release date has changed from January 29, 2028, to January 28, 2029.

The development comes as American entertainment outlet TMZ alleges that Coke and Combs were involved in a prison altercation at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey on October 9, 2026.

However, there is currently no verified evidence connecting the reported change in Coke’s release date to the alleged confrontation.

Diddy reportedly hospitalised after alleged fight

According to TMZ, which cited unnamed sources inside the prison, Combs reportedly sustained a head injury during an alleged confrontation with Coke on Friday, October 9.

The entertainment outlet reported that Combs was transported by ambulance to an outside medical facility in the early hours of Saturday, October 10, before returning to prison.

TMZ further alleged that tensions had developed among inmates following media reports suggesting that Combs had been receiving preferential treatment, including access to prohibited items and special privileges.

The publicity reportedly prompted prison officials to conduct searches, during which contraband mobile phones were confiscated.

One of those phones allegedly belonged to Coke, according to TMZ’s sources.

The outlet claimed that the confiscations may have contributed to tensions between the two inmates.

Neither the alleged confrontation nor its reported motive has been officially confirmed.

Dudus Coke’s release date pushed back to 2029

In a separate development, Jamaican media outlets, including Nationwide 90FM and Radio Jamaica, have reported that Coke’s projected release date has been revised to January 28, 2029.

His previous projected release date was January 29, 2028, as reported by Radio Jamaica in May 2026 and recorded by Nationwide during a check of Bureau of Prisons information in July.

The adjustment represents a difference of 365 days.

However, an earlier report published by The Gleaner in February 2025 had also listed Coke’s projected release date in January 2029, suggesting that his expected release date has undergone previous adjustments.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons has not publicly explained the latest reported change.

Could the alleged fight have affected his release date?

The timing of the reported developments raises questions about whether the alleged confrontation could have resulted in disciplinary consequences affecting Coke’s projected release.

Under federal prison regulations, inmates may lose good-conduct time or other earned credits following certain disciplinary violations, potentially affecting their projected release dates.

However, no publicly available disciplinary finding, court order or official statement has established that Coke lost sentence credits because of the alleged confrontation with Combs.

It is also unclear precisely when the latest adjustment to Coke’s release date was made.

Consequently, any suggestion that the alleged fight caused the change remains speculative.

Diddy’s representatives respond

Representatives for Sean Combs have stated that they “have no way of independently verifying” reports of the alleged confrontation.

Meanwhile, the Federal Bureau of Prisons has declined to discuss the circumstances involving individual inmates, citing privacy, safety and security considerations.

Earlier media reports suggested that Combs sustained his head injury after accidentally striking his head against an upper bunk bed, while TMZ subsequently attributed the injury to the alleged altercation.

Neither account has been conclusively established through publicly released official records.

Who is Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke?

Christopher Coke, 57, is the former leader of the Shower Posse-linked criminal organisation associated with Tivoli Gardens in West Kingston.

He became the centre of a major national controversy in May 2010 when Jamaican security forces entered Tivoli Gardens during efforts to execute an arrest warrant following a United States extradition request.

More than 70 people were killed during the security operation.

Coke was subsequently captured and extradited to the United States, where he pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy and conspiracy to commit assault in aid of racketeering.

In June 2012, he was sentenced to 23 years in federal prison.

Questions remain unanswered

While Coke’s revised projected release date has been reported by multiple Jamaican media organisations, the reason for the adjustment remains unclear.

The Bureau of Prisons has not publicly established whether the change resulted from disciplinary action, recalculation of earned-time credits or another administrative decision.

Similarly, the alleged prison confrontation involving Coke and Combs remains unconfirmed by prison authorities.
