According to reports, the child was found by passers-by and rushed to the Bustamante hospital for children, where she was admitted. An urgent appeal for blood donation was made, but those calls were not enough and on Saturday June 10, little Danielle passed away.

Police have yet to establish a motive for the abduction and murder.

According to Nationwide News, Mr. Rowe who is also a police corporal was accompanied by Danielle’s cousins and her uncle who provided him with support as he addressed the congregation. According to reports, there was a divide in the service as Danielle Rowe’s mother and family sat on one side of the isle and the father sat on the other.

Danielle’s Father, Norval Rowe

Family members from the mother’s side walked out of the service as Danielle’s Father, Norval Rowe, took to the podium. He said the last time he saw little Danielle was on her birthday, May 16, at which the young girl told him he loved her.

According to the reports, the funeral service started 54 minutes late and Danielle Rowe’s casket was covered with a Jamaican flag, the face with specks of red paint to symbolize bloodshed. The police asked the family to remove the flag, noting that the ceremonial exercise is only reserved for agents of the state and other dignitaries. Education Minister, Fayval Williams, Portmore’s Mayor, Leon Thomas and the St Catherine South Police Division commanding officer, Senior Superintendent Christopher Phillips, were also in attendance.

Danielle Rowe’s Funeral

The family became enraged and walked out of the service when they said it was taken over by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). They said, the service became a political spectacle instead of wishes from the family. They were also angry that the programme were dominated by strangers and politicians instead of family members. They were tired of hearing education Minister Fayval Williams and believed she had became the main focus of the funeral instead of Danielle. They were upset that there are no update on who killed little Danielle Rowe. The aunt of Rowe tried to interrupt the funeral service, calling on Prime Andrew Holness telling him “me have me money. me have pound. Check me out”.

She claimed they have totally ignored the family and their wishes.

Social media users are saying since Danielle Rowe’s father is a police officer, it seem as if he knows more than what he is letting on and information that could help the case may not be forthcoming.

Danielle’s aunt, cried and screamed, saying, “a politics this”. “Me want the baby to come out.”

The autopsy conducted on eight-year-old Danielle Rowe has shown that she died from an incised wound to the neck.
