3 Dead in case of mistaken identity due to gang conflict

According to the police about 1:45 am this morning, a black motorcar with six occupants pulled up at a house. They reportedly parked in a yard while awaiting for a friend. They were pounced upon by four men. Three of whom were armed with high powered rifles. They fired shots at the vehicle injuring all six persons. Three persons eventually succumbed to their injuries and the others are still in hospital.

The three victims have been identified as 24-year-old  Daniel Williams, otherwise called ‘Alkaline’,  unemployed of Cross Roads, Bounty Hall; 26-year-old Tashae Black, otherwise called ‘Tash’, a bartender of Red Hills, Wakefield; and Shanielia Clarke, otherwise called ‘Sukie’, 25, of Bounty Hall, all in Trelawny.

Police on the scene of the crime told reporters that information they received indicated the incident stemmed from a gang conflict that has been happening in the area. Investigators say the six were not the intended targets of the attack. He said the police are aware of the situation and are following strong leads hoping to catch the criminals.

According to the police, the person that were killed is not part of the gang and was a case of mistaken identity.

The police stated that criminals are coming from other areas and migrating into communities to commit crimes.

The investigating officer on the scene told reporters they are very concern about the crimes across Jamaica and the level violence which is not normal. According to the officer, the commissioner are consistent about persons who are placed on bail and continue to perpetrate crime while they are on bail. He believes that person who commits a certain type of violent crime should be remanded is custody the until trial and the process should be swift. This he believes will assist in controlling the crime problem.
