Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Archewell Foundation remain compliant
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Archewell Foundation was previously declared delinquent by the California Registry of Charities and Fundraisers. However, it is now reported that the foundation remains in good standing after an investigation.
Earlier this month, the Attorney General, Rob Bonta, issued a delinquency notice to the foundation on behalf of the Registry of Charities and Fundraisers. According to a document obtained by PEOPLE, the foundation was “listed as delinquent with the Registry of Charities and Fundraisers for failing to submit required annual report(s) and/or renewal fees.”
On May 14, a spokesperson for the foundation investigated the situation and confirmed that “The Archewell Foundation remains fully compliant and in good standing.” All necessary paperwork was filed, and due payments were made promptly in accordance with the IRS’s processes and procedures. Any claims suggesting otherwise, the spokesperson stated, are inaccurate.
The California Attorney General’s Office also confirmed on May 14 that: “After being in touch with our Registry of Charities and Fundraisers, the organization is current and in good standing.”
During a recent press conference, the Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, publicly supported Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, along with their charitable organization, the Archewell Foundation. Governor Newsom expressed his belief that the situation has been exaggerated and conveyed his desire for the media to accurately report his statements regarding the Foundation.
He remarked that there has been a remarkable focus on the Archewell Foundation. He mentioned he was standing in front of a mental health facility operated by Meghan and Prince Harry under their Archewell Foundation. He acknowledged that the Foundation performs significant work, especially in supporting women and girls, and notably in the realm of mental health.
He said not only they are in full compliant but it was a technical paperwork issue that was widely overhyped and with respect, he hopes the people who ran those headlines run his headline as well. He stated that this was a very typical paperwork issue that persist for so many others as well. He went on to say, the Archewell Foundation is a celebrated organisation that does amazing work in the State of California.
Newsom said he came forward because there was a bit of a piling on that was deeply unfair.
According to a source close to Archewell, the organization’s tax filings were completed in compliance with all regulations. The foundation became aware of the delinquency notice only after it was issued due to a check that was never received. The foundation promptly addressed the issue by sending a new check. It expects the records to reflect the resolved issue in the next seven business days.
Archewell is the non-profit established by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after they stepped back from their royal roles in 2020. The foundation’s mission is “to uplift and unite communities — local and global — through acts of service and compassion,” as per its website. Its initial registration forms were filed in California in 2021.
I thank my beloved Governor Newsom of California for shutting that BS down fast and concise. We all realize that the Nigerian trip was a huge success and the UK tabloids wanted to bring the Sussex’s down a notch. And as usual, it was an epic backfire. Who would have thought a US governor would take the time to step up and go to a facility to make a statement. California is the 5th largest economy on the planet. The UK has thrown shade at China, Jamaica, Nigeria, Somalia, and now California. The UK tabs and royals are bitta, bitta. Let them keep it up and find out!
