Davina Bennett Survives Pedestrian Accident in New York
Jamaica Live Entertainment Report | Sept 1, 2025
September 13, 2025 will forever be etched in the memory of Jamaican supermodel Davina Bennett, after what should have been another triumphant night on the runway turned into a frightening brush with death.

Bennett, who had just walked in a show for the stylish and visionary Kahlana Barfield’s Target collaboration, decided to skip the after-party and head home for some much-needed rest. But on her walk from the train, just minutes from her neighborhood, tragedy struck.
“I pressed the walk signal button, put one AirPod in my ear, and weirdly turned on some gospel music while waiting. When the signal came, I stepped off the curb, and that’s when I was hit!” Bennett shared. Moments later, she woke up inside an ambulance, dazed and terrified, with paramedics explaining what had happened.
She immediately contacted her loved ones, who rushed to the hospital. At first, adrenaline masked much of the pain, but bruises soon began to appear across her body. “Reality began to sink in,” Bennett admitted, especially after her agent, who had booked her for another show the following day, realized she wouldn’t be able to make it. “I was devastated! No, I am devastated,” she confessed.
Despite the fear, tears, and shock, there was an extraordinary silver lining. Doctors confirmed she had no broken bones or fractures, only bruises and soreness. “Considering what I’ve heard, it’s extraordinary that you don’t have any broken bones or fractures,” the doctor told her. Bennett’s response was simple but powerful: “It’s God.”
A Rising Star Who Keeps Shining
Davina Bennett is no stranger to resilience and grace. Born in Clarendon in 1996, the 29-year-old beauty made global headlines when she won Miss Universe Jamaica 2017 and went on to place second runner-up at Miss Universe, making history as the first Black woman to proudly wear her natural afro hair in the pageant’s final stages.

Since then, her career has flourished. At 5′10″, Bennett has graced billboards in New York City and continues to make her mark as a high-end fashion model, walking for top designers and representing international brands.
This latest ordeal is a reminder of both her fragility and her strength. As fans, Jamaicans, and the global fashion community rally behind her, Bennett’s story is not just one of survival but of gratitude and faith.
