Texan Dad Shot and Kills Daughter After Over Argument About Him Supporting Trump

A coroner’s inquest in England has cast new light on a tragic shooting in Prosper, where 23-year-old British national Lucy Harrison was killed by her father, Kris Harrison, during a heated argument on January 10, 2025. The details emerged in February 2026 during proceedings at Cheshire Coroner’s Court, which sought to establish the circumstances of her death while she was visiting family in the United States.

According to testimony presented at the inquest, Lucy and her father had a “big” political disagreement on the morning she was scheduled to return to the United Kingdom. Her boyfriend, Sam Littler, told the court that the argument centered on U.S. politics and specifically Donald Trump. The disagreement reportedly escalated when Lucy challenged her father with a hypothetical scenario related to sexual assault and political loyalty, which intensified emotions in the household.

Later that day, Kris Harrison told investigators he retrieved a Glock 9mm handgun from his bedroom. He claimed he intended only to show the firearm to his daughter during the dispute. In his statement, he said: “As I lifted the gun to show her I suddenly heard a loud bang. I did not understand what had happened. Lucy immediately fell.” Lucy was fatally shot.

The inquest also heard that Kris Harrison had relapsed into alcohol use and had consumed approximately 500ml of wine that morning. Authorities in Collin County initially examined the case as potential manslaughter. However, a grand jury later declined to indict him, and no criminal charges were brought in the United States.

Because Lucy was a British citizen, the case was reviewed in England to formally document the cause and context of her death. The coroner’s proceedings did not assign criminal liability but focused on reconstructing the sequence of events and the factors leading up to the fatal shooting.

The case has drawn attention both in the UK and the U.S. for the way a deeply personal family dispute, fueled by political tensions and alcohol use, ended in irreversible tragedy. The inquest underscored how volatile arguments, firearms, and impaired judgment can intersect with devastating consequences inside the home.
