Jamaica Live News Desk– | Oct 14, 2025
Jamaica Live can confirm that Kamla Forbes-Thomas, a known People’s National Party (PNP) activist, was arrested in Burke County, North Carolina, on July 20, 2025, on charges of Larceny of Property and Receiving or Possessing Stolen Goods.

According to information obtained from Gaston County officials, Ms. Forbes-Thomas was initially arrested in connection with the larceny case but was granted a reprieve that allowed her to appear in court voluntarily without being placed on bond. However, after reportedly failing to honor that court appearance, she was fully booked, photographed, and later given a secured bond.
This latest development means Ms. Forbes-Thomas now faces two active charges — the original larceny charge and a new misdemeanor charge of “Failure to Appear” in court.
Records from the Ranlo Police Department confirm that the 45-year-old was arrested and booked in Gaston County around 5 p.m. on October 5, 2025, for the failure-to-appear charge. She was released several hours later after posting a US$2,500 secured bond.
The circumstances surrounding the original larceny case and the nature of the stolen property have not yet been publicly disclosed. Jamaica Live will continue to monitor this developing story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
