PNP Activist Kamla Forbes Thomas Arrested in U.S. for Failing to Appear in Court

Jamaica Live News Desk– | Oct 6, 2025

Prominent People’s National Party (PNP) activist Kamla Forbes Thomas was detained in the United States over the weekend in the state of North Carolina.

According to official police reports, Forbes Thomas, 45, was arrested and booked in Gaston County by the Ranlo Police Department around 5 p.m. on October 5, 2025, for the misdemeanor charge of failing to appear in court. She was released several hours later after posting a US$2,500 secured bond.

Court records indicate that the activist had previously been arrested and booked on July 20, 2025, on charges related to larceny of property and receiving or possessing stolen goods, both classified as misdemeanors under North Carolina law.

While details surrounding the initial case remain limited, the “failure to appear” charge suggests that Forbes Thomas did not attend a scheduled court hearing connected to the July arrest.

The PNP member’s detention has already sparked discussion among political observers in Jamaica, given her active role within the party and her outspoken stance on several national issues.

Forbes Thomas has not yet made a public statement regarding the incident, and Jamaica Live will continue to monitor developments in the case.
