Holness and Comrades Unite on the Campaign Trail

In a rare display of political camaraderie, Prime Minister Andrew Holness and members of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) shared warm moments with comrades from the Opposition while on the campaign trail.

Holness later took to social media, writing: “Our politics is one of love, unity and respect. Whatever your politics, I love you!”

The PNP faithful were proudly decked out in their signature orange, yet that didn’t stop them from chanting the JLP’s own rallying cry — “Choosing Jamaica” — a catchy anthem that has been sweeping this election season.

“Today in North West Manchester, I met and engaged with comrades in a constituency known for its strong PNP roots. Accompanied by Damion Young, our candidate for North West Manchester, I was reminded that true political maturity is about putting Jamaica first, beyond colours, beyond party, united in service to our people,” Holness wrote.

The Prime Minister has repeatedly emphasised his commitment to keeping Jamaica’s elections free from the scourge of political violence. His call comes amid murmurs that the Opposition’s fiery rhetoric could risk stirring memories of the bloody clashes that marred the 1980s.

For Holness, this campaign is about more than just votes — it’s about proving that Jamaica’s democracy can be as vibrant in peace as it once was turbulent in blood.
