Williams, who is 17-years-old, will also represent HSI International Sports Management after signing a contract with them as well. Both deals were announced on Friday.
Williams has, for some time now, been seen as the next heir to the throne of Jamaica’s sprint athletics. Her impeccable performances in recent years was trumped by her spectacular run in June 2019 at the Jamaica Senior Track and Field Championships where she broke the national high school 100m record running 10.94s.
She is seen as one with a bright future, coming off what many track and field experts in the United States believe was one of the most successful high school sprint seasons of all time. Williams concluded the 2019 season as the MileSplit's Girls Athlete of the Year, having ran 11.01, 11.02, 11.10, and 11.11 in the 100m. Those times were documented as the No. 3, 4, 6 and 7 all-time.
In addition to this success, she also stamped her mark on the international scene, becoming the youngest competitor to double at the IAAF Under 20 Championships, winning both the 100m and 200m.
With such an impressive career at only 17, the young star is positioned for greatness. It is no doubt that Briana Williams has a bright future ahead of her on the track and signing with Nike will definitely help to boost those chances.
